The Agent2Agent (A2A) Protocol is an emerging open standard (initiated with industry support incl. Google Cloud & partners) that enables interoperability between heterogeneous AI agents built with different frameworks, vendors, and runtimes. A2A defines a common communication and coordination layer so autonomous / semi‑autonomous agents can exchange structured messages, negotiate tasks, share state, and collaborate without bespoke adapters. It targets multi-agent topologies spanning organizations, clouds, or products.
